You may have noticed Kitsune Paradise was down over the night. This was because we have turned off the modem in an effort to clear its internal RAM to see if that would help with the packet loss issues we've been having for almost a month. Hopefully this fixes things.

Apparently, it didn't. However, we're getting a new modem soon, which *should* fix everything.

Well, good luck with that. I'm not the best with technical stuff.

Hehe yeah, he does *snuggles Samui* New modem though? Aren't you running this through a cable internet connection? Or is it a modem that converts the signal from DSL or such? As that's usually slower so it you can upgrade to cable it could work even faster.

funny you say that Taoki but it seems that at least in Cali, Dsl and now Fios is faster then cable, especially since it's charter that runs the Cable net service. to tell the truth some time's you even get interference when they're doing road work in the neighborhood. which is why I'm glad I have DSL. personally i think cali is backwards because there are small towns in the mid west that have free WiFi through out the entire town.. and yet you can't even get it like that in LA

Comcast is the only option for cable in Sacramento, and they suck more grandpa cock than Linksys did four years ago. On the other hand, it seems things are working fine again, though that's kinda like when I had the Linksys wifi adapter four years ago that constantly dropped connections. It behaved for a day or two, then it went back to being shitty. Hopefully our modem doesn't pull that shit.
Incidentally we *almost* got into a place that did have FIOS...Like, an actual house, that is equipped for fiber. But that kinda fell through due to credit issues. Maybe sometime in the future. Maybe.

Eww... that's nasty and really bad (Comcast I mean, not the grandpa thingie). I heard about them and they are trying to censor web sites to what they want... I read on internet freedom sites however that they fortunately got sued for it and for trying to block web sites and such so yeah theyre in my "evil companies" list.
And yeah DSL can be faster then cable in an area where there are two providers and one offers high-speed DSL while the other low-speed cable. Technically however, cable should be the fastest way but of course you need a good provider (has a 10mbps down connection... wishes there where fast ones like that all over the world though).
